£1.5m operations centre near Glasgow Airport will allow company to scale up to meet global demand

Wind turbine components supplier Renewable Parts has completed a move into a purpose-built operations centre at Westway, near Glasgow Airport in Scotland.

The £1.5m operations centre offers a five-fold increase in capacity compared to Renewable Parts’ existing premises, allowing the company to scale up rapidly and meet the growing market requirements of the domestic, offshore and international wind markets.

The facility includes 40-tonne heavy lift equipment capable of accommodating main component storage services, making it a significant step up in Renewable Parts' service offerings to wind farm owner/operators and independent service providers.

Located at Westway, near the University of Strathclyde and the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland's new premises, in the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS), the operations centre is expected to provide "unique advantages to Renewable Parts in advancing its pioneering sustainable supply chain offerings to the wind industry".

The company will be able to consolidate its people, inventory, and services to a single location, simplifying logistics and enhancing efficiency.

Chief executive of Renewable Parts James Barry said: "Renewable Parts has become a significant player in the wind industry, supporting the growing fleet of assets in the UK, Europe, and more recently, the Far East and the Americas.

"We have witnessed a significant increase in our supply chain customer base, and as a result, have doubled our headcount over the past year.

"The new operations centre provides the capability to meet our customers' needs today and in the future. It will allow us to offer a unique blend of services in a rapidly developing market."

Chief executive of Renfrewshire's Chamber of Commerce Bob Grant said: "We are delighted to see a company like Renewable Parts thriving in Renfrewshire, building on its growing success to introduce new skills and jobs, as well as continued investment into the communities around Westway Business Park.

"There is a maturing renewable energy industry and that will need the support of a supply chain, Renfrew is located next to major transport links, road, rail, air, and sea, making it an ideal location to support the growing needs of an important sector for the future."

The company has delivered over 215,000 items through its supply chain over the past 18 months.
