Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2024 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Italy (85K units), India (61K units) and Japan (27K units) were the main suppliers of hydraulic cylinder and system imports to the UK, with a combined 59% share of total imports. Ireland, Germany, China, Romania, Poland, Sweden, the United States and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.
From 2013 to 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +100.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($164M) constituted the largest supplier of hydraulic cylinders and systems to the UK, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($42M), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 9% share.
From 2013 to 2024, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United States amounted to +9.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+10.6% per year) and India (+28.5% per year).

The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($68M), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 9.3% share.
From 2013 to 2024, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States stood at +11.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+19.7% per year) and France (+20.9% per year).
In 2024, the average hydraulic cylinder and system export price amounted to $4.5 thousand per unit, increasing by 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed buoyant growth.
